Cold Today, Gone Tomorrow?

If you read my last entry, then you know my son caught a whopper of a cold. If you happened to notice I didn't post anything yesterday, then maybe you gathered I caught the same cold, only my second one in nine years. That guess would definitely be correct.

To recap quickly, I was giving my son some homeopathic tablets by Hyland's. The name of the tablets is C-Plus Cold Tablets. I started by giving him two every 15 minutes for the first hour, then two every hour after that. That was Saturday, the first and worst day. By Sunday he was much better, coughing and sneezing only a few times, and no more fever. I, however, was feeling pretty rotten.

By Monday he was better and I was in terrible shape. Despite all my remedies that have kept me from a cold for years, this one was not going away. (Or maybe we're dealing with the flu.) I started to understand how my son felt, but he was better and I was getting worse. My husband suggested I try the adult homeopathic tablets to see how they worked. I decided to do just that. Besides, there's really nothing over the counter a nursing mother can take that is considered safe. (Nothing for infants, either.)

I started them last night and even woke up through the evening to continue taking them every four hours, as in the directions. Today the aches and pains are gone, the headache is gone, and I can breathe. I still have a fever, only slightly under what it was yesterday, but it's only 10 a.m. We'll see how the day progresses.

In the meantime, my son is taking his morning nap and seems to be much better. Did the tablets work? All I can say is this: My symptoms seemed worse without them than his did with them. I'm definitely keeping them on hand.
