The Buzz on Burt's Bees

When I started searching for baby care products, I naturally flipped the containers over, as I always do. I was only a little surprised to find all sorts of ingredients I didn't want to put in my baby's bath or on his skin or on his backside...

My mother brought me a little sample pack of Baby Bee, the line for babies by Burt's Bees. It used to be you could only find Burt's Bees products in a health food store. But now he's everywhere - including Cracker Barrel restaurant gift shops. And of course, any of the products can be found online.

What I really appreciate about the products is, first, I can pronounce all the ingredients on the list. Secondly, there aren't any parabens, petrols, alcohols, citric acid, or DHEA; these are the items I scan for first.

Another great benefit is they smell absolutely wonderful. For instance, the apricot oil that I put in my baby's bath smells so fresh, I could just gobble up my squeaky clean baby. And the diaper ointment has a nice rosemary smell - nothing mediciny.

I have the baby shampoo bar, and although it has a nice smell and rinses clean, I have found it to leave my baby's scalp a little dry. But I love the idea that it's in a bar, preventing spillage. I still use it from time to time, but due to the drying factor, that is one item I don't reach for immediately.

There are several other companies that produce chemical-free baby products as well. I'll be looking into those shortly, so look for the up-and-coming lowdown!

Oh, I just love Burt and his bees! I use the shampoo for the kids. If it gets in their eyes, it doesn't sting - because the ingredients are gentle. The no more tears stuff uses a numbing agent to take away the sting - no thanks. I know this is about baby stuff, but if Momma has oily skin like I do, Burt's Bees makes a red bar of soap made w/tomatoes that really takes away the oil without drying out your face.

I use a lot of the Burt's Bees stuff for myself too! The Wild Lettuce Toner is nice, and I'm totally hooked on the chap stick. There's always one in my diaper bag. (I don't carry a purse anymore!) I recently bought the Grapefruit and Sugar Beet shampoo. I love it! I haven't tried the tomato soap yet. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!
